The Madison
County Volley Raiders hit the road for their longest road trip of the season to
Lumpkin County on Thursday. At the end of the road to Indian land awaited the
0-7 Lumpkin County team. The Indians collected their first win of the season at
the hands of the Raiders as Lumpkin pushed past Madison County 2-0 (25-19,
25-16). The Raiders bounced back to defeat Pickens in the late match by a 2-0
score (27-25 and 25-21). With the spit, Madison County’s record now stands at
4-6 on the season. Lumpkin County is in region 8 (4A) with Madison County but
Thursday’s match didn’t count towards the region record. Madison County will
face Lumpkin County again on October 1. That rematch with the Indians will be a
region contest.
The junior
varsity Raiders also lost to Lumpkin County but defeated Pickens in the late
match. The junior varsity Volley Raiders currently hold a 3-4 record.
Madison
County hit the road again to Habersham County on September 5th to face
the Habersham Raiders and Shiloh beginning at 6:00.
