Volley Raiders' season ends at state tournament

The Madison County High School Volley Raiders' season came to a close on Wednesday night at Locust Grove. The Volley Raiders were swept by Locust Grove in three sets ending coach Steve Crouse's first season as head coach.
The Lady Raiders dropped the opening set 25-17 and lost the second set by a 25-15 score. The series was a best three out of five sets to win the match and Locust Grove did just that by taking the third set 25-12 to win the overall match 3-0.
Despite the loss at state, the Volley Raiders finished the season strong by defeating Eastside last Thursday night to advance to Saturday's round two of the region tournament where they defeated Lumpkin County to earn a birth in the state tournament. The Volley Raiders were eliminated by Lanier in the region tournament before falling to Locust Grove in round one of the state playoffs.
