The Madison County Volley Raiders varsity hit the court on Thursday night in a home match with Cedar Shoals. The varsity Volley Raiders earned a split with Cedar taking the first match 2-1 but losing the nighcap 0-2. Cedar Shoals edged the Raiders 25-23 in the first set but Madison County bounced back to win sets two (25-16) and three (25-12) to earn the match win. Cedar Shoals then swept Madison County in the nightcap winning both sets 25-18 and 25-21 to leave with a split.
The Junior Varsity Raiders got off to a slow start but bounced back after trailing 7-1 to defeat Cedar Shoals twice 2-0,2-0. The JV Raiders won the first match by set scores of 25-17 and 25-17 before completing the sweep with set scores of 25-9 and 25-19 to win the second match.
The varsity Raiders will play in a "play-in" tournament this Saturday at Monroe Area. Madison County will face Winder Barrow at 10:15 am, Loganville at 11:30, Monroe at 3:15, and Walnut Grove at 5:45.
